John joined Carrick Lane as a Partner in 2026, following a 25-year career at Goldman Sachs where he most recently served as Head of Derivatives Research. At Carrick Lane, he leads strategy and product development, including the firm's expansion into new options-based investment structures across client segments and distribution channels.
At Goldman Sachs, John built and led the firm’s Derivatives Research franchise, published more than 4,500 options trade recommendations and authored widely cited studies on systematic options strategies, including a 30-year study on asset allocation with options overlay strategies. He appears regularly in financial media on derivatives markets and options strategy.
John holds an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University. He serves on the Executive Board of Scouting America's Patriots Path Council and resides in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
